Joseph Lample
Dr. Joseph Lample is Programs Lead for the Kimanya-Ngeyo Foundation for Science and Education in Uganda, where he has worked for the last decade. During this period, Joseph developed an in-service professional development program, with support from the Ministry of Education and Sports, to train over 2,000 primary and secondary school teachers using materials from Fundaec’s Preparation for Social Action (PSA) program. In addition to helping teachers develop capabilities connected to effective planning and delivery of curriculum, the program has enabled educators to assume a greater role in the overall well-being of their students in and out of the classroom, and to strengthen their relationship with parents and the community.
In collaboration with researchers at the University of Chicago, Joseph is now working to scale the effects of this program through the Ugandan government’s teacher training institutions as part of its continuous professional development framework and to transfer and adapt lessons from this program and model to additional countries.
Dr. Lample also has extensive experience as a consultant and educational researcher and holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Studies in Education from the University of California, Berkeley.
